so finally, somehow, i manage to log into my live journal from back in 2007-2008. i still dont now my password! lol they refuse to send password reminded to hotmail. only that is the only type of email i have verified with them *rolls eyes* so...somehow one of the passwords i tried, said it failed but really it hadn't!
stupid rambles on there much like here...but the one post i was looking for was there!!
back in the july of 08 i ventured to the toy sales...and here's how it went...
Wow....that was full on.
so 2 days b4 the sale we get a catelogue almost as thick as a paperback romance novel....and so it begins... "mummy i want this, OHHH mummy i want thisssss and this and this and thissss" so i get out my trusty artline and i start putting a circle around what he's saying...
Some of the savings were just too good to miss out on....vsmile console, save 30 bucks, and the cartridges save 15 bux...that means i could get more!!! couple of board games (whack a mole included lol) a couple of ds games, a skooter, a helmet, some lightening mcqueen tshirts...etc...i was set with a list of what i must put on no deposit layby till xmas!!
so the day b4 the sale i go in and suss out the place, i find out where in the store, what i want is located...i make a mental map of it all....on the way out i ask the lady at the door.. "when do u open tomorrow" (thinking to myself, i'll get here half eight to be safe..) "we open at midnight tonight" my jaw drops....thats.....8.5 hours earlier than i had planned......thats a long time for everything i want to be snatched up by others...NO! i will not be defeated... i devise a plan to recruit two other foot soldiers, Steph and Paul.
I goto their house and we figure out whats the quickest routes to where the stuff i want is... for me, the plan was to go through ladies-wear...cut through the handbags leading me straight to the toy isle needed for the vsmile (top priority) so we decide to get there at half 11, frivolously thinking that not THAT many ppl would be rocking up at midnight for toys.....as we walk through the carpark we notice alot of cars....as we approach the entrance to westfield we see even more ppl.....we get to big w and there are at least 60 people with trolleys.....our jaws drop and we join the line....my eyes darting all over the place at people;ENEMIES with printed out catelogue pages in clear sheets.....these people were serious....they meant business....but had they scoped the place out earlier that day i wonder? was i one step ahead? i put on my mental boot polish under the eyes and i was ready for battle, quite prepared to push my way through anything if need be...
For the next 25 minutes we play the waiting game, im insanely impatient, so as the time passed i grew more anxious, pictureing the people in front of me with their eyes on my prizes....i didnt come here to be dissapointed, i came here for victory and most of all...satisfaction!!
The big roller door starts to open, so slowly and i see the people with the trolleys basically come to a stop trying to fit through the other trolleys..BINGO i have the advantage here, i dont have a big cart that i need to manuver, could i have picked the most intelligent strategy of all? i easily slide in and out of the gaps created by trolleys and within 4 minutes im in, i tell paul and steph 'u know what your missions are...GO! we all go off in different directions, i cut through ladies wear as planned, no ones infront of me and no one is behind! by the time i get to the isle i look up and see a heard of elephant looking mums in their trackpants... taking the obvious route and trying to beat one another. One lady's eyes open a little wider surprised to see me already there, i grab the vsmile and 4 cartridges, mission 1 complete!!!
but it is hard to hold, i decide to meet steph at sound and vision, "man down" she says. I look at her and notice her finger is bleeding!! "omg r u ok how did that happen?? " i ask "theres no time for that now! theres two spongebob games!! which one, which one?" she says frantically... "thatttt oneeeee" i say as i point, i look around for the ONE super mario bros game i noticed earlier that day...it was a big saving and i knew it'd be gone, thats why i stashed it with the ps2 games!!!! unsure if a staff member in that time would notice and put it back...i still took that chance earlier that day.....and it paid off!! it was there!! VICTORY!!!!! mission 2 completed.a lady notices what i have and lets out a dissapointed 'aww' without even thinking my natural reaction was an evil little laugh...both surprised i apologise and run off...
'Steph!!!' i yell... 'we need a trolley, go go go!!!' she whisks off and i wait....paul is nowhere to be seen and i still have board games to explore and the clotheing...steph comes back i dump my pile of toys into the cart and we see paul!! he's got the skooter and helmet!!!! :D this is all coming to plan.....we head to boardgames....and we notice.....the layby line!! could it be!! i neglected my strategy for the layby line....steph runs and gets in line, theres 14 people ahead of us, about at least 23 trolleys.....'u stay here!! ive got moles to whack!' i leave her in line with the trolley and get what else i need. i come back and she hasnt moved an inch! 'oh my god....we're gonna be here....forever arent we....' i think...and boy was i close to being right....we were in that line for close to two hours....it doesnt seem like much but when ur at the shops at 2am, and people are still rushing around u trying to fill as many trolleys with as many sale items as possible.....it wears u out and u just want home. by the time we get served we are so over this battle, for us we won, we got everything on the list!! it was an awesome feeling but at the same time, we stumble through the store trying to make our way out through a layby line that goes from one end of the store to the other, one wounded soldier, 2 with no spirit or energy left...
i get home to a sleeping little boy who has no idea of what his mummy has gone through for him....i get into bed and snuggle with him and kiss his forehead.....totally worth it to see his face on xmas day.

You are a very brave mummy.....the toy sales are a breeding ground for crazy parents (me included) running down the isles and waiting for 2 hours at laybye. Yep, been there and done that!
